Bill’s Records and Tapes, a small record store filled with thousands of vinyls and covered in band memorabilia, would not jump out as the perfect venue for a concert. But for Dallas locals the Demigods, it did more than suffice. Bill hosted a show for their first self-titled EP on Saturday.
The band consists of two siblings, Jamie and Josh Reeves, and keyboardist Delphi. Their sound is reminiscent of the '70s with some darkness sprinkled in. Delphi, and Jamie both sing and play instruments. Their pitches play well off of each other.
Although a majority of the audience were friends of the band or regulars at Bill’s, it was a friendly crowd eager for music.
Delphi announced that “Moonbat Twist,” from the EP, was played on 91.7 FM (KXT) the day before the release party. This track is set apart from their otherwise-reoccurring sound; it’s much peppier and even younger. Hopefully it will get more airtime.
The Demigods' entire first album, Roses for (IV) Revolution, will be out later this fall.
